Soaring
{Through Second} launched
in December of 2011 as a place to share what was happening in my classroom. I
was so inspired by other teaching blogs, and I wanted to contribute what I
could to this incredible community of teacher bloggers and leaders in
education. Through this little blog,
I’ve made some amazing friendships, found amazing connections and ideas for my classroom, and been inspired beyond belief.
Teaching
is my passion and my students are always at the heart of the decisions I make.
I
hope you’ll be able to see how much I love teaching & my students through
this blog.
I
have been teaching for ten years (this is my eleventh year!). After two years of teaching 4th
grade I found myself in 2nd
grade and in love. I’ve always had a passion for integrating student centered
learning, so when I had the opportunity to go 1:1 with iPads
I took it! (That was back in 2012!) Since then, I’ve enjoyed learning how to
integrate technology to help students learn and how to make my classroom truly student centered. I have my Masters in Reading Education and I
have my Reading Specialist Credential. (Writing is my favorite subject to
teach!)
The past three years, I have had the opportunity to be a digital learning coach for my district.
I work with various teachers and students on technology integration each day.
(Dream job!) I’ve also presented at numerous tech conferences throughout
California and love sharing my successes, failures, and “ah ha” moments with
others!
I
hope that you find helpful resources here at Soaring, and that it provides
inspiration for you to take back to your classroom. If you are stopping by for
the first time, be sure to check out the Tech Projects page where you’ll find
resources, blog posts, videos, downloads, and lots of helpful tech tips!
Thank
you again for stopping by Soaring! Instagram
is my social media of choice and I try to post pictures there daily- I’d love
for you to stop by there to say hello! I
also blog with my teaching partner at iRockCommon Core, and I contribute to See Mama Teach: A blog on balancing motherhood
& teaching.
I love your blog because you share your skills so generously and in such a helpful fashion. I get ideas from you even if I cannot do things just like you do. I learn organization tips, class design, management, instructional ideas, etc. A major thanks. God bless you
