We went from a boring old blah brown table.....
!!!!!
I got the adhesive whiteboard roll from Amazon, stuck it to the table, sealed the sides with a little duct tape, and viola! My own little think tank!
Students use it during math to work out problems, during writing if they're having trouble spelling a word, and during guided reading to create graphic organizers and show their thinking! And NO copies or a zillion post its (anymore!)
Now head on over to see the wonderful Nancy at Joy of Kindergarten to read about some fun directed drawing ideas!!!!!!!
What a great idea! I will be looking for adhesive whiteboard now!

Love this idea! What size roll did you buy? Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteHi Cecilia! I purchased the 24'' by 20' roll :)
DeleteHi Sandy! Did you have a seam, and join more than one piece? My table is about 36" deep. I don't think I can cover it with one piece. :(
DeleteMy students would love this and it would brighten up my old table!

Surfin' Through Second
Love this! Don't know if my principal will approve, but worth asking. ~Melissa
ReplyDeleteI didn't even ask- I just did it and figured if it was a problem I could apologize later ;-) I was surprised at how easily it will peel off too, and it doesn't leave any gunk or adhesive behind! :)
DeleteThanks! That was exactly what i needed to know. Excellent idea!
DeleteGood to know! That's what I was wondering, too:)
DeleteWhat a fantastic idea! Just a quick questions...does it erase well?

A Tall Drink of Water
I was actually surprised at how well it erased! It's just like an actual whiteboard. And you can even use the spray to help clean it up! :)
DeleteGreat idea! I also have a question. Do the edges peel? If so, how do you prevent that from happening? I could see my kids picking at the edges.

TeachItToday
The edges did start peeling- just from everyday use. But I set up rules before and let the kids know peeling and picking is NEVER okay ;-) It's lasted about six months so far!
DeleteI love this idea! I bet your kids do too....put it on my list of things to order, lol! =) Thanks for sharing!

Sandy!
ReplyDeleteYour table looks amazing!! What an awesome idea!! And that top picture with the kids using it to make a graphic organizer is great!
Thank you for sharing. Did you just buy one roll and was it enough? Do you have enough left over to do it again? My co-worker is going to try it first. Thanks again!
ReplyDeleteOne roll was enough for one table :) I did have some extra left over so I threw it up on a wall and instant whiteboard as a word work station for kids to write on. :)
DeleteI was seriously JUST thinking about doing this today. Funny I came across this post! :) Yay. Great idea!!

ReplyDeleteI found it in www.pizarraprofesional.com in black and green colour as well !!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome! Thank you for sharing!!!!!!!!
DeleteDid you have to overlap some of it to make it cover the whole table?
ReplyDeleteI did have to overlap it! :)
DeleteDo you think this roll could do 2 tables?
ReplyDeleteWhat size roll did you buy for that table pictured? And how much did it cost?
ReplyDeleteLike the stools at your Guided Reading table...IKEA, right? Would like to get same stools as they stack nicely. But my guided reading table is only 25 inches high and I am teaching a grade 2/3 split...just want the students to fit correctly at table w stools....how high/tall is your guided reading table?
ReplyDeleteThe blog was absolutely fantastic! Lot of great information which can be helpful in some or the other way. Keep updating the blog, looking forward for more contents...Great job, keep it up..
ReplyDeleteInteractive whiteboard
How brilliant! A simple idea but yet so useful. I wonder if contact paper would work just as well.
